Leeds United are back in competitive action this weekend.
The Whites have gone about transforming their squad this summer, with seven new additions to date, and the vast majority of fans are excited for the campaign ahead.
Monk’s task is to guide Leeds back into the Premier League and he certainly has the experience to do that. The question is: Does he have the squad when you consider the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United are now in the second tier and fighting for an immediate return?
Only time will tell, but Leeds will be hoping to get off to the best possible start and Monk can do that with a clean bill of health.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of the clash with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s men, Monk said, “We have a fully fit squad and everyone is up for selection. (Liam) Cooper and (Gaetano) Berardi have trained and are available.”
That is great news for Leeds yet it will be interesting to see just who Monk opts to play now he has plenty of options in key positions.
Still, an experienced midfielder is needed before we can call it a job really well done, and if Leeds can bring one in this month the Whites could be set for a fine season indeed.
