Tottenham signing Rafa Silva would be bad news for Son, and accelerate Chadli's exit

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked over the past few days with making a move for Portuguese international winger Rafa Silva.

Silva's club Braga are holding out for a higher offer than Tottenham's initial £10m approach, newspaper O Jogo report, and there is a month left in the window for Spurs to conclude a deal.

The attacker is highly rated and could be a shrewd addition for Spurs, who are set to recoup up to £8 million by selling Alex Pritchard to Brighton, SkySports report.

Yet Silva's arrival could spark more departures, especially with Georges-Kevin Nkoudou lined up to sign from Marseille, with Clinton N'Jie moving in the opposite direction.

Silva would place pressure on South Korean international Heung-Min Son, who played poorly in the second half of his debut season, and failed to grasp the chances given to him on the club's pre-season tour.

He is now off to the Olympics with his country and will miss the start to Tottenham's season. He is unlikely to be sold, but Silva's arrival would intensify the competition for a place and really pile the pressure on.

One player who would surely find Silva's arrival too much is Nacer Chadli, who was on the fringes last season anyway.

After the loss against West Ham in March he started only one league game for Spurs, and despite going on tour with the club, he has been linked with an exit, with The Times reporting Swansea are keen.

Silva signing would push Chadli one step closer to the exit door, unless he can persuade head coach Mauricio Pochettino to have a change of heart.
