According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona have been quoted a €22m (£18.5m) fee for Gremio forward Luan - but the Brazilian side have rejected an approach from Liverpool for the player.

Liverpool may have strengthened their attacking options with the signings of Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, but it seems that manager Jurgen Klopp may have been wanted another addition before this month's transfer deadline.

Gremio star Luan, who hit 17 goals during the 2015 season and has scored ten times during the 2016 campaign, is the latest player to be linked with a move to Anfield.

An attacking player who can play off the striker or out wide, Luan have pace and technical ability, and would offer competition for places in the Liverpool attack along with Mane, Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings.

However, it appears that Liverpool's attempt to land Luan has failed, as Spanish newspaper Sport report that Gremio have snubbed the Reds as they have sold too many players this summer.

The report does though add that Gremio have had something of a change of heart, and are willing to talk about a sale, having quoted Barcelona a fee of €22m (£18.5m) for the player.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona pay that asking price, but it may well cause Liverpool to re-think their pursuit and make another move for the player before the deadline.

At £18.5m though, fans may rather see the money spent on other areas of the team, with Liverpool certainly needing another left back to strengthen their back line.
