Paul Lambert says Williams would be a terrific signing for Everton

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Ashley Williams from Swansea City in the summer transfer window.

Former Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Lambert suggested on The Monday Night Club show on BBC 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, August 1, 2016) that Ashley Williams would be a good signing for Everton.

Swansea City defender Williams has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Everton in the summer transfer window.

According to a report in The Mirror, Everton are interested in signing the Wales international defender this summer.

It was reported that the Merseyside outfit are looking at Williams as a potential replacement for John Stones.

Manchester City are reported to be in talks with Everton over the signing of England international defender Stones.

Former Villa and Blackburn boss Lambert believes that Williams would be a good signing for Everton.

“I think he is a brilliant defender,” said Lambert on The Monday Night Club show on BBC 5 live Sport on Monday evening (broadcast from 7pm, August 1, 2016) regarding Williams.

“I think he has gone better as the Premier League has gone on, and I think, going to Everton, I think, would be a terrific signing.”

According to a recent report on BBC Sport, Swansea have rejected a £10 million bid from Everton for Williams.

The 31-year-old former Stockport County central defender has been on the books of the Welsh outfit since 2008 and is regarded by many as one of the best in his position in the Premier League.
