The Senegalese forward's move to Galatasaray is also under threat, according to reports.
Yesterday saw Everton confirm their squad numbers for the 2016-17 season.
There were some interesting moves. Gerard Deulofeu and Ross Barkley moved up the pecking order to seven and eight respectively.
Youngsters Tom Davies and Kieran Dowell were also upgraded – to 26 and 28 respectively.
But perhaps the most interesting aspect of the squad number announcement, which came about on Twitter, was who was absent.
Number 14 left a big gaping hole in the listings, especially when you consider it was only handed to its previous owner in February.
Senegal international Oumar Niasse took the number after securing his move to the club from Lokomotiv Moscow.
Niasse arrived at Everton in a deal reported by The Telegraph to be worth £13.5 million.

But he arrived injured and not ready for English football. He ended up playing just seven times and scoring no goals – failing to impress the Everton faithful.
He was also arrested on suspicion of assault in March, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
This latest act from Everton is the clearest indicator yet that he is on his way.
Further to this, reports in Turkey are suggesting Galatasaray are now struggling to complete their mooted loan move for the player.
Eren Derdiyok in action
F5Haber are suggesting that Gala are now struggling to complete a deal in line with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play Regulations – after completing a move for Swiss international Eren Derdiyok from local rivals Kasimpasa.
So, at present, Niasse faces a tough time ahead at Goodison Park.
