Does Tottenham's reported pursuit of Rafa Silva mean N'Koudou deal has hit a snag?

The Ligue 1 star was expected to join Spurs last month but the move appears to have stalled.

Recent reports, by the likes of the London Evening Standard, have linked Spurs with a move for Portuguese international Rafa Silva, but what does this mean for the Georges-Kevin Nkoudou deal?

Tottenham were thought to have completed a deal for the Marseille winger two weeks ago – as reported by the Guardian – but the ‘imminent’ transfer has yet to be announced.

GFFN reported last week that a visa issue with Clinton Njie, who looks set to head in the opposite direction, had held up proceedings but that should have been resolved by now.

The lack of movement has left Spurs fans wondering if they will ever see the flying Frenchman at White Hart Lane or indeed whether the whole episode was simply a figment of their imagination.

Links to Silva began to emerge on Monday and, if accurate, perhaps suggest Spurs are looking at an alternative option due to complications in the N’Koudou deal.

Mauricio Pochettino spoke recently of his expectation that more signings would be made this month but it seems unlikely that two pacey, attacking midfielders would be brought in.

Even with the possible departures of Alex Pritchard and Nacer Chadli, Spurs would still have Dele Alli, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son as their attacking midfield options – with youngsters Josh Onomah and Marcus Edwards providing further depth.

It therefore looks a case of one or the other as far as Silva and N’Koudou are concerned and links to the former could well be a bargaining tool to help Spurs secure the latter.
