The lifelong Leeds fan is happy with sponsoring his beloved club.

Leeds United will have a new sponsor of their East Stand for next season in the form of Clipper Logistics.

Of course the sponsorship is no surprise.

Leeds United announced the deal in March on their official website. The Leeds-based company’s founder and Executive Chairman Steve Parkin told the Leeds website:

"As a lifelong Leeds fan, I’m delighted to have the business I’ve built over the past two decades become a sponsor of the club.”

As Parkin stated he is a lifelong Leeds fan and, in the past, has been heavily linked with a takeover of Massimo Cellino’s Leeds United.

This week however he has addressed such rumours yet again. Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post he made it clear he was not interested in pursuing anything at this present time:

“Clipper is still taking up all of my time and is likely to do so for the foreseeable future.

“We have sponsored the club and will always give the football club our support, financial or otherwise.

“I am very much a supporter and always will be.”

In November last year the Mirror reported that the maverick Italian was ready to sell the club to the Leeds businessman in a reported £30 million takeover.

They even quoted Cellino as stating:

Steve Parkin is a nice man, he loves Leeds.

“If he wants to talk, he can talk to my lawyers.”

In February the Yorkshire Evening Post reported that Parkin had become a regular in the director’s box at Elland Road this season and that he had already tried to buy the club a decade ago.

But Parkin, whose company is currently flourishing, seems happy to have made a mark at Leeds through sponsorship at this time.

Leeds United have been linked with a takeover by a Chinese consortium over the weekend, but it appears nothing is currently ongoing in that regard.
