Both strikers have long since retired along with Sutton, and he has give his verdict on who he rates as the better player.

Sutton said that while he admires Shearer greatly, he felt Larsson was the more accomplished of the two.

Shearer left Blackburn for Newcastle in 1996 for a British record fee of £15 million at the time, where he remained for the rest of his career.

He did not win a trophy with Newcastle despite his loyalty to them, and coming close on a couple of occasions, but scored prolifically, netting 379 club career goals in total.

Larsson enjoyed more silverware success with Celtic, four league titles and numerous cup successes, and played a brief part in Manchester United's 2006/07 Premier League title win.

He also won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2006, and scored a total of 434 career club goals.
