Tottenham Hotspur have impressed with their summer transfer business to date, signing Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen and set to bring in Georges-Kevin N’Koudou in due course.

Despite that, a deadline day move is not beyond the realms of possibility; certainly not if that player was one of the most talented teenagers in Europe.

Anderlecht's Youri Tielemans

According to a recent report from Nieuwsblad, Youri Tielemans is still on Tottenham’s radar but the North London club may have to fight the great and the good of European football for his signature.

When you also factor in his contract at current club Anderlecht, which runs until the summer of 2020, it could be a waiting game as much as anything else in a bid to finally get a deal over the line.

Tottenham have proved already this summer that they are happy to take their time in order to secure the best possible deal for the club, and any negotiations for Tielemans are likely to stretch on for quite some time.

Deadline day is often about panic buys and last-minute loans, but if Tottenham can lay the groundwork for a Tielemans transfer in the weeks ahead, he would be a player well worth negotiating long into the night for.

A supremely talented midfielder who has the potential to grow into one of the best in the world; if Tottenham are going to be busy on deadline day, it should be for Tielemans above anyone else.
