Tim Krul has been with Newcastle United for nearly a decade now, and having made close to 200 appearances for the club it is no surprise that the Dutchman is an extremely popular figure among the Magpies faithful.

To further endear himself to the fans, Krul stated soon after Newcastle’s relegation into the Championship that he would be remaining with the club (Daily Mail).

Despite Krul pledging his allegiance to Newcastle, it has not stopped the 28-year-old from being linked with a move away from St. James’ Park and the likes of Middlesbrough (Daily Star) and Everton (The Chronicle) have been touted to make a move for the goalkeeper.

In addition, Newcastle have acquired the services of Matz Sels from Gent this summer and many suspect that the 24-year-old was signed by manager Rafael Benitez to serve as a replacement for Krul.
