Brentford's Alex Pritchard shoots at goal

According to Sky Sports sources, Brighton & Hove Albion are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur to sign midfielder Alex Pritchard this summer.

The 23-year-old was once hailed as the next big thing at Spurs. However injury robbed him of the chance to build on a great loan spell at Brentford in 2014 and after a failed temporary stint at West Bromwich Albion he has been deemed surplus to requirements at Spurs.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino recently said Pritchard was not in his plans and now Championship club Brighton are said to be negotiating a potential deal.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy wants £8million for the England under-21 international but despite that significant outlay talks between Spurs and the Seagulls are said to be going well.

If the move goes through Levy could get a decent financial boost, Brighton would be getting a talented player and Pritchard could set about getting his career back on track.

Last time he played in the Championship he scored 12 goals and provided seven assists for Brentford, firing them into the play-offs as a result.

Some Tottenham fans will be disappointed that Pritchard did not have the chance to show what he can do at White Hart Lane, yet the sheer number of talented youngsters coming through the ranks means some will always fall by the wayside in due course.
