Southampton's new signing Jeremy Pied has told the club's official website that he spoke to Morgan Schneiderlin before making his move to the South Coast.
The Saints have added Alex McCarthy, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Nathan Redmond to their squad this summer, and new manager Claude Puel has now swooped to sign a player he knows very well.
French utility man Jeremy Pied - who can play at right back or on the right of midfield - has joined the club on a free transfer from Nice, meaning he reunited with Puel yet again.
The duo worked together at Lyon when Pied came up through the ranks, and when Puel took the Nice job in 2012, he swooped to sign Pied again - and has now signed him for a third spell together.
Clearly the pair trust each other greatly having agreed to work together again, and whilst reuniting with Puel will have been appealing in itself, Pied has admitted that he actually spoke to a former Saints player about the move.
Pied has told the Southampton official website that he has known Morgan Schneiderlin for some time, and received some advice from the Manchester United star before his switch to the South Coast.
Pied claims that Schneiderlin - who made more than 250 appearances for Southampton - told him that Southampton's facilities were 'wonderful', whilst admitting that his move to England is a dream come true.
Manchester United's Morgan Schneiderlin
"It’s a dream for me that has come true," said Pied. "Playing in England has always been a dream of mine, ever since I was little, so I’m very happy and proud."
"I played with Morgan Schneiderlin when I was younger – I think you know him well – and he said to me that there were wonderful facilities here," he added.
Do you think Pied will be a good signing for Southampton?
