The goalkeeper had been expected to leave this summer, but it appears that he is happy to stay.

David Ospina has told the London Evening Standard that he is happy at Arsenal, hinting he will be staying at the club this summer.

It was believed that the Colombian international would leave the club this summer after falling down the pecking order.

Petr Cech is the undisputed number one for the Gunners after arriving at the club from Chelsea last summer.

That meant Ospina made just a handful of appearances last season after coming in for criticism after a disastrous performance against Olympiacos in the Champions League in October.

And now it appears he is set to stay at the club, if his latest comments are anything to go by.

“I have a contract with Arsenal, I’m happy with the team,” he told the London Evening Standard.

“We are fighting for the top of the league. Now we have two weeks until we start the season. These friendlies serve us very well.”

It remains to be seen how much game time that Ospina will get next season as the Gunners look to improve on last season.

Arsene Wenger learned the hard way that swapping goalkeepers can be a drastic mistake when he did so for that loss to Olympiacos.

He is unlikely to make the same mistake again in future and Ospina is unlikely to see much game time next season as a result.
