Aston Villa have agreed a deal worth £14 million for Fulham striker Ross McCormack, HITC Sport understands.

Villa and Championship rivals Norwich City have been locked in talks over the 29-year-old, who has made it clear he wants to leave Craven Cottage.

Fulham, though, have been holding out for a deal they feel is right for a player who has been one of the deadliest strikers anywhere outside the Premier League in recent seasons.

Villa's opening bid of £12 million was rejected but now with the extras which could make the deal worth £14million - Fulham have relented an accepted.

HITC Sport now understands that McCormack is due to have a medical in Birmingham on Wednesday ahead of completing his move in time to be involved for Villa this weekend, as they open their Championship campaign at Sheffield Wednesday.

The news will be a huge boost to Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo, who is set to lose key defender Ciaran Clark to Newcastle this week.
