HITC Sport understands Motherwell reject bid for star winger.

Oxford United have seen a bid for Motherwell winger Marvin Johnson rejected, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
As revealed by HITC Sport last month Oxford were lining up a move for Johnson as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new League One season.

Johnson has been a revelation for Motherwell since joining the club from Kidderminster Harriers in January 2015 and his progress has not gone unnoticed among clubs in England and Scotland.
The tricky winger has started the new season in stunning form with three goals and three assists in his last three games to fuel further interest in Johnson.

The likes of Celtic, Rangers, Hearts and Queens Park Rangers have been credited with an interest in Johnson after watching him in action on a regular basis.
Oxford aimed to try and steal a march on their rivals by tabling an offer for Johnson, but Motherwell have turned down the offer as they battle to keep the 25-year-old.

Motherwell are expecting further interest in Johnson before the close of the transfer window with a couple of Championship clubs understood to have made enquiries for the skilful wideman.
Oxford have money to spend after selling Kemar Roofe and Callum O’Dowda this summer and they have identified Johnson as a key addition to their side, but it remains to be seen if they will make an improved offer for the player with competition expected to increase for Johnson.
