Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 29) that Everton manager Ronald Koeman would want the future of John Stones to be sorted as soon as possible.
Parlour believes that Everton manager Koeman would want the situation to be sorted as soon as possible.
“Ronald Koeman will be saying to the board probably: 'Look, if we do sell him, we need two or three players for that money. I need to spend that money to improve next season’,” said Parlour on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (broadcast from 6am, July 29).
Stones, who is only 22 years of age, is primarily a central defender who can also play as a right-back.
The former Barnsley youngster is one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old created six chances in 33 Premier League appearances for Everton last season.
Stones had a pass accuracy of 89% and a shot accuracy of 14%, and won 51 headers, 23 dribbles and 36 tackles.
Everton endured a disappointing season in the Premier League in 2015-16 and failed to finish in the top 10.
