HITC Sport understands that Italian is first choice.
Former Watford manager Gianfranco Zola
Gianfranco Zola is in line to become the new head coach of Premier League Hull City, HITC Sport understands.
The 50-year-old Chelsea legend has previously held two managerial roles in English football with West Ham United and most recently Watford, who he left in 2013.

Following a stint with his hometown club Cagliari, he was most recently with Qatarian side Al Arabi but left them earlier this year after being sacked.
Hull have been considering their options and are understood to have put together a short-list that also includes Wales boss Chris Coleman, but HITC Sport has been told by sources close to the deal that Zola is close to finalising a deal with the club's owners.

The source confirmed: "A deal is close with Zola, nothing is done until it is signed but he is ready to come in."
Hull are in need of a new boss following Steve Bruce's decision to quit the club last month, after he and the board disagreed over the club's transfer plans.
Former England coach Steve McClaren and ex-US head coach Bob Bradley were amongst the others to apply for the role.
