Leeds United boss Garry Monk has remained coy when asked by BBC Radio Yorkshire whether Jordan Botaka is about to leave Elland Road.

Botaka has been linked with a loan move to Oldham Athletic in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

And Monk did little to quash rumours that the skilful winger could be about to leave the Yorkshire club.

“Look, anything that’s in terms of my players I like to keep between us,” he said when asked whether Leeds were willing to allow Botaka to leave.

“We’re preparing for next week and nothing will distract from that.”

Botaka remains a popular figure with Leeds fans, but he has struggled to make an impact at the Yorkshire club.

The youngster came with a big reputation from Holland, but he has failed to break into Leeds’ starting line-up.

Botaka made just three Championship starts for Leeds last season, with his other 10 appearances being as a substitute.

Leeds have already added Kemar Roofe and Hadi Sacko this summer, and Pablo Hernandez is also set to join, meaning competition for places has increased at Elland Road.

Botaka’s chances could, therefore, be limited again and it seems that the winger could be handed the opportunity to head out on loan in the coming weeks.
