There are doubts over the futures of some of the remaining squad too, especially Moussa Sissoko, who is reportedly attracting interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid after his performances at Euro 2016.

And Benitez has admitted that three or four players are considering their futures at the club.

“We have three or four players considering whether they have to go or will stay. We have offers for some of them. It is a difficult situation for them,” he told the Chronicle.

It remains to be seen what players could leave Newcastle before the end of the transfer window.

Sissoko looks likely to leave given his performances in France, although it is unknown if any club is willing to pay his reported £35 million asking price.

Florian Thauvin’s future is also unknown after a disastrous year at the club, while there is also interest in Cheick Tiote according to the Chronicle.
