Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given the club's fans a boost by stating that Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez will be back involved with the squad as they head to Scandinavia to continue pre-season preparations, as reported on the club's official website.
Wenger has received much criticism from Gunners fans this summer for his failure to strengthen his side accordingly, but he has always insisted the level of quality among his current crop of players makes improving the squad difficult.
He spoke to arsenal.com and provided an update on the expected return of Ramsey and Sanchez.
“Not all of the international players will be back," he said. "But Ramsey will be involved, Sanchez will be involved."
The Frenchman then went on to explain how other players who went further into the European Championships are still not ready to join up with the squad.
“The latest players coming back will not be involved, that's Ozil, Giroud and Koscielny," he said. "I don't think they will be involved on the tour on Thursday, but all the others will.”
With the Gunners' opening day Premier League fixture at home to Liverpool just under two weeks away, Arsenal fans will be pleased to hear the news that two of their key men will be back involved with the first-team, and hoping that they will be ready for the big kick-off on August 14.
A report from The Times earlier this month had claimed that Wenger would be without four first-team players for the visit of Liverpool, including Ramsey, but the Welshman's inclusion on the tour to Scandinavia could point to his participation in the Premier League opener.
Wenger will certainly need to field a strong side to take on Jurgen Klopp's vibrant, energetic team, as they look to avoid a repeat of last season's opening day defeat to West Ham United.
