According to a report in the Chronicle, Brighton & Hove Albion winger Anthony Knockaert is keen on a move to Newcastle United.

Newcastle have already had an offer for the skilful winger rejected by Brighton, but they are set to step up their chase for the Frenchman in the near future.

Knockaert features prominently on Rafael Benitez’s wishlist at St. James’ Park, as he looks to further strengthen Newcastle’s attacking ranks.

And it is said that Knockaert, himself, is keen on a move to Tyneside.

Knockaert has impressed over two spells in the Championship - with Leicester City and Brighton - and his arrival at St. James’ Park would give Newcastle a set of attacking players who would surely be the envy of any other side in the second tier.

Newcastle have already brought in Dwight Gayle and Matt Ritchie this summer, and the Chronicle believe that Knockaert’s arrival may not even be the end of Newcastle’s summer recruitment drive.

Benitez’s side are also said to be pushing to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Alex Pritchard, and they want another striker before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
