Glasgow Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told the Scottish Herald that he is hoping to have at least one new player in at Ibrox before his side start their league campaign.

Rangers are set to make their return to the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, when they face Hamilton.

And Warburton is hopeful that he will have a new option to choose from, ahead of that fixture.

He said: “We need one or two more as we’ve said that for a number of weeks but you’ve got to get the right players in.

“We know what we want and if we can get it we’ll make the move. I hope we can do it before next Saturday. They are working on it.”

If Rangers complete another signing, it will take their summer recruitment drive into double figures.

Rangers are thought to be looking to add a new centre-back and a striker before the close of the transfer window.

Rangers have already brought in nine new players, as Warburton looks to bolster his options.

Rangers were promoted with a thin and youthful squad, but they have added more quality and experience this summer.

Warburton’s men have won all three of their competitive matches so far this season in the Scottish League Cup.
