Nir Bitton picked up an injury during Celtic's friendly with Barcelona.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Daily Mail that Nir Bitton’s injury was the only negative to come out of his side’s friendly against Barcelona yesterday.
Bitton damaged his knee in the first half of the contest, and he was forced off at half-time.
Rodgers has warned that the problem could be a serious ones, with the midfielder set for scans today.
“Our only negative was the injury to Nir which looks a nasty one,” Rodgers said. “We’ll assess it and see how serious it is over the next 24 hours.”
Celtic lost the friendly 3-1 to Barca, but their performance against Luis Enrique’s side was largely encouraging.
The Spanish giants retained possession for large spells, but Celtic gave them a good challenge.
Barcelona took the lead in the contest in the first half when Arda Turan curled in a wonderful finish, but Leigh Griffiths levelled things up.
At that point Celtic looked to push on, but their hopes of winning the fixture took a blow when Efe Ambrose scored an own-goal and Barcelona went on to hammer their advantage home, with Munir completing the scoring.
Celtic kick off their Scottish Premiership campaign at the weekend, with a match against Hearts.
