Newly-signed Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed to the club’s official website the name of three teammates he has been speaking a lot with.
Wijnaldum joined Liverpool from Championship club Newcastle this month. According to BBC Sport, the Reds had to pay the Magpies a transfer fee of £25 million to secure the services of the Dutchman in the summer transfer window.
The Netherlands international midfielder has stated that he is settling in well at Liverpool.
The former Feyenoord and PSV star has also revealed the names of his new teammates with whom he speaks a lot - Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and Sadio Mane.
“I didn’t know any of the lads before I came here, so at first I thought it might be difficult when you know no-one, but everyone has been really good,” Wijnaldum told Liverpool’s official website.
“They’ve all spoken with me and have tried to help me when I’ve needed something. That makes it easier for me to settle in here.”
“I try to speak with everybody to get to know people better,” added the midfielder. “Divock can also speak Dutch, so it’s easier for me to communicate with him.
“I’ve been speaking a lot with him and also Christian Benteke and Sadio Mane.”
Wijnaldum scored 11 goals and created 48 chances in 38 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last season.
The Dutch midfielder had a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 71%, and won 25 headers, 50 dribbles and 31 tackles.
Newcastle got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and will feature in the Championship next season.
Liverpool will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League during the 2016-17 campaign.
