Watford's Costel Pantilimon
According to the Mirror (live transfer thread, July 29th at 20:42), Aston Villa are set to sign Watford’s Costel Pantilimon in a £2 million deal.
The report claims that Roberto Di Matteo’s side have made space for his arrival following Brad Guzan’s switch to Middlesbrough, and Watford are happy to allow the goalkeeper to leave Vicarage Road.
Villa have already strengthened their goalkeeping ranks this summer with the signing of Pierluigi Gollini - a player new owner Dr Tony Xia predicts will become a leading Premier League star in the future, as quoted by The Sun.

But the West Midlands club haven’t stopped there, identifying Pantilimon as the ideal candidate to provide competition with Gollini for a spot between the sticks.
Pantilimon played for Manchester City and Sunderland before moving to Watford, yet so far in his career, the Romanian has predominantly featured as a back-up to a regular number one.

The 29-year-old, who stands at 6ft 8inch, made just four FA Cup appearances for the Hornets after moving to Vicarage Road from Sunderland during the January transfer window earlier this year.
He is undoubtedly a good goalkeeper, and Villa hope he will play a role in the club’s bid to earn an immediate return to the Premier League following their relegation to the Championship last term.
