Rangers manager Mark Warburton has provided a fitness update to the club’s official website, saying he expects Jason Holt and Josh Windass to be fit for the beginning of the season.

The Gers have had something of a busy schedule of late, playing three games in the revamped League Cup alongside their pre-season routine.

It has proven to be an ideal build up for them, with the intense schedule helping to build up their fitness ahead of the new campaign.

They now take on Championship winners Burnley at the weekend to round off their summer schedule.

And Warburton has provided an update on the fitness of his squad, saying he expects Jason Holt and Josh Windass to both be ready for the opening game against Hamilton.

“Our fitness is good, we don’t want to hurry things unnecessarily, but our fitness is good and we are looking forward to the test at the weekend,” he told the club’s official website.

“We’re looking forward to it and touch wood the squad is in good shape. We have one or two small knocks, Jason Holt and Josh Windass will both be back.”

It now remains to be seen if either player is a starter in Mark Warburton’s line up for the game.

Windass is the more likely of the two, having impressed so far in pre-season after joining in the summer.

But with the Rangers midfield a competitive one to say the least, it will be interesting to see if he is set to be a first team regular this season.
