Gabriele Perico featured for Leeds United against Atalanta in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has been quoted as saying by the club’s official Twitter page that he has been impressed with Gabriele Perico.
Perico featured in the pre-season friendly match for Leeds against Italian club Atalanta at Elland Road on Saturday afteroon.
The Italian trialist started the game and played for 45 minutes, and Monk was pleased with the right-back.
Leeds won the match 2-1, thanks to goals from Chris Wood and Kemar Roofe.
Monk’s comments suggest that Leeds could hand Perico a contract, as it seems that he was impressed with the Italian.
The 32-year-old defender is a free agent at the moment, having left Italian outfit Cesena at the end of last season.
Perico played 21 times for Cesena in Serie A during the 2014-15 campaign. The right-back created 10 chances, had a pass accuracy of 74% and a shot accuracy of 14%, and won 15 headers, one dribble and 24 tackles.
Cesena featured in Serie B last season after getting relegated from Serie A at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
