West Ham United are set to land Andrew Ayew in a £16 million deal, according to a report by The Sun.

The 26-year old arrived at Swansea on a free transfer last summer and enjoyed an excellent debut campaign – scoring 12 times in 35 appearances.

The report claims that the Hammers refused to meet the Ghanian’s wage demands last year, allowing the Swans to sweep in and grab their man.

It appears West Ham have had a change of heart however, and will now look to bring the versatile forward in after becoming frustrated in their search for a striker.

Ayew isn’t an out-and-out striker but he has been deployed in that role and would provide Slaven Bilic with ample options in attack alongside the likes of Dimitri Payet, Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore.

Hammers fans might feel a tad underwhelmed if Ayew proves to be their lead signing this summer after being linked with the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Bacca in recent weeks.
