According to The Sun, Southampton are plotting deals for Spanish duo Cristian Tello and Recio.

Tello, a Barcelona youth academy product, has fallen out of favour at the Nou Camp and has spent the past two seasons out on loan at Portuguese giants Porto and Italian side Fiorentina.

The Saints reportedly feel that they can bring him to the Premier League and are looking at signing him alongisde Malaga man Recio, as they seek a midfield replacement for Victor Wanyama.

Recio, 25, came through the Malaga ranks and is valued in the report at around £5 million.

In other news, Crystal Palace goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is keen on a move to Southampton as the two clubs are locked in talks over a potential deal, according to Sky Sports.

McCarthy, 26, has made just seven appearances for the Eagles since joining the club from Queens Park Rangers last summer as he remains back-up to regular number one Wayne Hennessey.

Southampton’s number one is Fraser Forster, therefore McCarthy will seemingly be brought in to fulfill a similar role as back-up.

Portuguese publication A Bola claims that Southampton are monitoring Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Semedo, sending scouts to watch the Sporting Lisbon man in action.

New manager Claude Puel is keen on bringing in more players this summer after losing the likes of Wanyama, Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle, and Semedo has been identified as a potential option.

The highly-rated Portugal U21 international is valued at £12.5 million in the report, and he is tipped as the latest from Sporting’s famous academy to go on and achieve big things in the game.
