Blackburn Rovers have rejected a bid for Shane Duffy from Championship rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, according to The Sun (print edition, page 57, Friday, July 29, 2016).
It has been reported by the British tabloid that Brighton boss Chris Hughton made a bid of £3 million for the 24-year-old defender.
However, according to the report, Rovers have turned down that offer and want the centre-back to sign a new deal.
Brighton, who narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League at the end of last season, are not the only club (reportedly) interested in signing Duffy from Rovers in the summer transfer window.
According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers want to secure the services of the former Everton centre-back this summer.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Scottish Premiership giants Celtic had made an enquiry about Duffy.
Duffy scored four goals and created 14 chances in 41 Championship appearances for Blackburn during the 2015-16 season.
The former Everton defender had a pass accuracy of 62% and a shot accuracy of 31%, and won 290 headers, six dribbles and 32 tackles.
In two matches for the Republic of Ireland at the 2016 European Championship in France this summer, Duffy had a pass accuracy of 54%, and won 16 headers, one dribble and two tackles.
