The skilful Eagles star thinks the West Brom man and Liverpool forward Christian Benteke could do a job at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace star Yannick Bolasie has been speaking to Sky Sports about the club's reported pursuit of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, and he has told people that they have the young forward wrong.

Many have an impression of the 22-year-old as being something of a difficult player to manage, with his breakdown in relationship with Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace last summer leading to a disappointing season at the Hawthorns that saw him score just seven goals and have limited appearances.

But Bolasie has said that he would welcome Berahino to the club, with the Eagles closely linked with a transfer for the West Brom man by the likes of the Mirror, as well as Liverpool attacker Christian Benteke, another said to be interesting Palace.

"I know Saido and he would be a good signing," Bolasie is quoted as saying on Sky Sports.

"I think he's a top lad. Everyone gets him a bit wrong but he's a top guy. And obviously Benteke has Congolese origin, same as me."

Both Berahino and Benteke, who is out of favour at Anfield, are being chased by several clubs this summer, with Stoke City also said to be particularly keen on the England Under-21 striker.

But despite the fact that any new forward arrivals would put pressure on the versatile Bolasie, the  27-year-old is happy with the competition, especially as the Premier League embraces talent from all over the world.

"It's good to see fresh faces come through the door, especially with what we're seeing in the Premier League so far," he said. "The managers that have come in and players coming in from all over the world.

"It's part of football I guess. I haven't had it easy where I've come from, I'll be looking forward to battling. It's a buzz for the whole team. Football is all about competition and I'm looking forward to that."
