Bilic is busy reshaping his squad after a number of departures and with the future of the likes of Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho very much in the air.

He has so far brought in Ashley Fletcher from Manchester United, Havard Nordtveit from Borussia Munchengladbach and Sofiane Feghouli from Valencia on free transfers.

And he also finally landed Tore from his old club Besiktas after a protracted move which saw the Turkish international join on loan with an option to buy.

Why didn't Bilic buy player he knows so well?

Many fans have questioned why - having worked with the player previously and being so eager to sign him - Bilic did not stump up the cash to sign him permanently.

And the former Croatia boss has now revealed the reasons why and has left Tore in little doubt as to what he needs to do to earn a long-term deal, as reported by Turkish sports site Fanatik.

'I know what he is capable of'

“I really wanted Tore at the club, I worked with him for two seasons so I know he is a special player,” Bilic told Fanatik.

“He does need to work on his consistency but if does that he will be something else,” he added.

“I know what he is capable of and in my opinion he has the potential to become the best Turkish player out there."

Can Tore prove Chelsea wrong?

Time will tell if Bilic is right, although the player's failure to make the grade at Chelsea as an emerging youngster leaves question marks.

The fiery character, nicknamed 'the beast' in his homeland, will hope he can prove the Hammers' London rivals were wrong to let him go.
