Report: Manchester United confident of landing Pogba despite Real Madrid interest

Mourinho has reportedly told Manchester United to either sign Pogba by next week or make a move for Matuidi.

France's Paul PogbaPogba could be a United player by next week

The Manchester Evening News has claimed that Manchester United are confident of sealing a reunion with French superstar Paul Pogba before the Community Shield showdown with Leicester City next week.

However, Jose Mourinho is understood to be worried by the prospect of Real Madrid making a late bid to hijack United's advances.

France's Paul Pogba

Pogba, who left Old Trafford in 2012, is thought to be committed to signing for the Red Devils, but is nevertheless interested in a move to Real, who could yet scupper a deal for the Juventus playmaker.

United's pursuit of the 23-year-old is understood to have hit a stumbling block when Juventus refused to pay half of agent Mino Raiola's commission.

The Serie A champions were keen for United to pay Raiola since he was the one to advise Pogba on a return, although executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward appeared reluctant to budge.

However, the Manchester Evening News has now claimed that Woodward has agreed to the terms of the deal, although a frustrated Jose Mourinho has told him to complete the transfer by next week or switch attention to Paris Saint-Germain's Blaise Matuidi.

Mourinho is reportedly anxious after being rejected by Portugal international Andre Gomes, who instead opted to join Barcelona earlier in the summer.
