Former Arsenal and Queens Park Rangers defender Armand Traore is poised to join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

The 26-year-old was released from by Queens Park Rangers at the end of last season after his contract expired with the club.

Traore saw his spell at Loftus Road hampered by injuries after arriving from Arsenal for £2million in 2011.

The left-back did not feature for QPR last season at all with the defender deemed surplus to requirements last summer by then manager Chris Ramsay.

Traore was highly rated in his younger years, and even spent time at Juventus on loan, before leaving Arsenal for QPR.

The Senegal international is keen to get his career back on track and Forest are ready to offer him a short-term deal at the City as they look to bolster their full-back options.

New head coach Philippe Montanier is keen to bolster his squad before the start of the new Championship season getting underway in less than two weeks and has already brought in five new signings and Traore looks set to be the next arrival.
