Freddie Ladapo scored his first goal for Crystal Palace in a friendly win over Wimbledon.
Crystal Palace's Freddie Ladapo celebrates scoring their third goal
One of the best stories in English football continued last night as Freddie Ladapo netted his first goal for Crystal Palace.
The striker was playing non-league football for Margate at the start of this year, before he impressed on trial for Palace and the Eagles snapped him up.
The former Colchester striker had to make do with under-21 football at the end of last season as he signed outside of the transfer window, but has been getting chances this pre-season.
After a bit of an adjustment in his opening friendlies, Ladapo produced an excellent display in the 3-2 win away at AFC Wimbledon last night.
Crystal Palace's Yannick Bolasie celebrates scoring their second goal with Freddie Ladapo
The 23-year-old provided an assist for Yannick Bolasie's goal, before scoring himself, heading home what proved to be the winner with 15 minutes to go.
Palace are low on strikers with only Frazier Campbell, Connor Wickham and Kwesi Appiah on their books. New additions are likely, but Ladapo has shown he may be able to contribute if called upon.
A loan deal is possible for him if not, but it's so far so good, with his display against Wimbledon showing just why Palace moved to gamble on him.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance.

I really liked the look of him. Hopefully he bangs a few goals in out on loan next season.
Ladapo off of Margate looks an interesting player...could we have found a gem? #cpfc— Alex Mckeown (@AlexMckeown3) July 27, 2016
I hope we are not considering Ladapo for the premier league. I think in time he could be an option but needs a season of league football— Joe Rekert (@JoeRekert) July 27, 2016
