Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has confirmed to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on July 27th, that he is keen on signing West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.
Stoke were linked with Berahino last January, but they failed to get a deal over the line.
“He’s on our list. We would like to do something, but we’re in the hands of the player and West Brom on that,” Coates admitted. “We’re working away on it, and we would like to take him if a deal can be done.”
Berahino has previously suggested that he wanted to leave West Brom, and he has been linked with a move away from the Hawthorns for some time.
The 22-year-old has been of interest to a host of Premier League clubs, but it seems Stoke are leading the way for his signature at this time.
Berahino struggled to find his best form for West Brom last term, but he is still regarded as one of the finest up-and-coming strikers in England.
Stoke are known to be looking to add a forward, as Mark Hughes aims to make his side more threatening.
Stoke begin their season with a match against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on 13th August.
