According to a report in the Daily Mail, Nir Bitton could be one of the first players to leave Celtic this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has had a chance to assess the quality of his squad now, and departures are expected to take place soon.

Rodgers quickly allowed the likes of Anthony Stokes and Colin Kazim-Richards to move on from Celtic Park after taking charge, but he has been keen to offer every other player a chance.

However, the Mail suggest that Bitton’s future is now up in the air, with a move for the Israeli midfielder now a strong possibility.

Bitton is currently training with Celtic’s team in Kazakstan, ahead of their Champions League qualifier against Astana, but when he returns to Glasgow it is said that the 24-year-old could be moved on.

“He's travelled. He's obviously been out for a little while but he came through a training session after the game on the field, he's trained the last couple of days so he is available,” Rodgers said of Bitton, ahead of Celtic’s match later this evening.

Bitton went through a stage when he was one of Celtic’s key performers, but he struggled towards the back end of last campaign.

The Bhoys are trying to make room for a central-midfielder, with Rodgers keen to add a new player in that area before the close of the transfer window.
