Ibrox boss Mark Warburton has signed nine players for Glasgow Rangers this summer.
The 33-year-old midfielder joined Rangers on a two-year deal earlier this summer after his Burnley contract expired.
The former Newcastle United and Manchester City ace played an instrumental role in helpig the Clarets win Premier League promotion last season.
As far as profile in British football, Barton is comfortably the biggest signing of the nine which Rangers boss Mark Warburton has made this summer.
He has talent, of course, but the Liverpudlian also has character and personality, and the Gers shot stopper is delighted to have such a vocal presence in the dressing room.
"You need those sort of characters in the dressing room — winners and people who can lead, and Joey is definitely one of those people," he told The Mail. "From day one he’s been very vocal and has been fantastic.
"All the boys have been saying the same thing — that it’s great to have him on board."
Rangers have enjoyed a cracking start to the 2016-17 campaign, winning all four of their League Cup games - which came thick and fast in a nine-day period - by scoring 10 times and conceding none.
Indeed, the Gers, whose summer signings will reach double figures by the closure of the transfer window surely, mean business on the field as they do off it, and supporters will be delighted ahead of the club's Premiership return.
