HITC Sport understands Reading are waiting on defender bid.

Leicester's Liam Moore

Reading are waiting to hear back from Leicester City regarding their bid for defender Liam Moore, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

As revealed by HITC Sport earlier this week, Reading have made a bid for Moore as they look to lure the centre-back to the Madejski Stadium.

Jaap Stam

New Reading boss Jaap Stam has identified Moore as a target as he looks to strengthen his defensive options ahead of the Championship season getting underway in less than two weeks.

Moore has dropped down the pecking order at Leicester in the last 18 months and he had a spell out on loan at Bristol City last season.

The former England under-21 international was unable to break into Claudio Ranieri's side last season due to the form of Wes Morgan and Robert Huth and he did not make a Premier League appearance last term as Leicester secured the title.

A number of clubs in the Championship have enquired about taking Moore on loan, but Reading have actually made a bid to sign the defender on a permanent basis.

Reading are now waiting to see if Leicester will accept their offer for Moore with the player and club currently in America for their pre-season tour, and if they do not make a decision on their offer Reading are ready to switch their sights to other targets.
