The Frenchman watched Spurs in training earlier this year.
He mentioned his relationship with former Montpellier, Lyon and Guinea coach Robert Nouzaret – before also revealing a close bond with Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.
He spoke of a visit to watch Spurs in training this year, stating:
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy before the match
“I had Robert Nouzaret as a mentor, I was his assistant for four years, so it's true that it was a good reference, I learned my trade with him.
“Then I try to be open to everything that is done by talking, visiting colleagues. There, in March, I was at Tottenham with Mauricio Pochettino of staff that I know well, to see how he trained, how he worked.
“That is interesting for inspiration and sometimes have new views on the game.”
Of course Montanier is likely to know the Argentine from his time working in the Spanish game with Real Sociedad but the fact he has been picking up pointers from the Spurs boss will no doubt please Forest fans.

Pochettino has quickly become a fan favourite for the style of play he has installed at White Hart Lane – which has also made him popular with neutrals.
He had Southampton playing with a similar swagger and Forest fans will no doubt be hoping that Montanier can have a similar impact on the way the Reds perform in the Championship next season.
