Liverpool signing Sadio Mane appears to have annoyed Manchester United fans with his latest comments.

Quoted by SkySports, Mane said that United were one of the clubs interested in him, but when Liverpool made an approach - he jumped at the chance to join.

This has been framed by a number of media outlets as Mane 'snubbing' United, rightly or wrongly, and this has left Red Devils supporters agitated.

He said: "Yes, it was true (Manchester United were interested). "There was interest from a lot of clubs, not just Manchester United, but as soon as I knew Liverpool were interested I just felt it was the right club with the right coach.

"It was right for me to come here. Liverpool are a massive club with a big history that has won many trophies over the years and as soon as I was told of the possibility to come here and I knew the manager wanted me I said yes."

Mane was at Southampton prior to joining Liverpool, where he had signed from Red Bull Salzburg two years ago.

The winger was prolific last season and even netted against Liverpool, and he will be a player Manchester United will have to pay close attention to when they face off this coming season.

Mane was linked to United during Louis van Gaal's management spell, but their interest appeared to cease when Jose Mourinho took over, allowing Liverpool a free run at his signature.
