League One Walsall look to have won the race to land Burnley starlet Josh Ginnelly, HITC Sport understands.

The teenager was snapped up by Burnley from Shrewsbury Town in August last year, when they beat a host of Premier League and Championship clubs to his signature after he rejected the chance of signing a professional deal at the New Gay Meadow.

After moving to Turf Moor was then loaned out to non-league Altrincham to gain first-team experience and the 19-year-old impressed during his time at Moss Lane.

A host of clubs from the Championship, League One and League Two have been looking to land the highly-rated 19-year-old but HITC Sport understands that the Saddlers, who came close to promotion last season, have won the race to land him.

Walsall are believed to have agreed an initial six-month loan deal with a view to that extending for the rest of the season.
