Out of all of Aston Villa's signings from last season, Adama Traore remains the biggest enigma.

Arriving with a big reputation from Barcelona's academy, the winger struggled to make any sort of impact.

He made just 10 Premier League appearances, all from the bench, and only one start in the League Cup, with plenty of time in the treatment room.

Fans had been hoping to see more of Traore in pre-season, for a sign of whether he could contribute this coming campaign, but he has been missing from their friendly matches.

Club owner Tony Xia was quizzed about the 20-year-old on Twitter this morning, and responded that Traore is injured, but could be back in a fortnight.

This time frame could put Traore in the mix for the start of the season, but he is likely to be behind his teammates in terms of fitness due to his injury keeping him out of pre-season.

It would be a surprise if Traore features in Villa's opening game, but he could be up to speed by the end of August, and ready to start making an impact and showing what all the fuss is about.
