According to a report from Portuguese publication O Jogo via The Telegraph, Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Benfica's attacking midfielder Anderson Talisca.

The report states that a fee of £20 million has been agreed between the two clubs and that a move is likely to happen this week depending on work permit approval.

Talisca is an accomplished attacking midfielder who can play in all positions along the front-line and can also play as an out-and-out forward.

Benfica forward Anderson Talisca Anderson Talisca has incredible potential

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been with the Portuguese giants for two years and has impressed with his showings in the Primeira Liga, notching 12 goals in 53 league appearances for Benfica.

He has been compared in his home country to Brazilian legend Rivaldo, and has a similar playing style to Neymar. He possesses blistering pace and is often utilised in wide areas, enabling him to either cut inside or take on defenders down the flanks, which makes him incredibly hard to mark.

O Jogo (via the Telegraph) also report, rather strangely, that Wolves are interested in signing Talisca, but the Brazilian would favour a move to Liverpool, for obvious reasons.

The Benfica man is left-footed, which would provide the Reds with much needed balance across their front line, with all of their other attacking midfield options predominantly right-footed.

If a move does eventually come to fruition, Liverpool fans will be hoping that Talisca can emulate the success enjoyed by his fellow countryman Philippe Coutinho since his move to Anfield.
