Unwanted by Tottenham Hotspur, Nabil Bentaleb would be a smart signing for Everton

Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb could be an excellent addition for Everton.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear Nabil Bentaleb has no future at the club, and is likely to be sold.

Speaking at his press conference in Australia, the Argentine was quoted by The Mail stating that the midfielder is not in his plans.

Bentaleb was left off the club's pre-season tour, and there is likely to be plenty of interest in the Algerian's signature.

One club who should take a look at signing him are Everton, who face Tottenham on the first game of the season in early August.

Bentaleb is just 21-years-old, but has 66 first team appearances to his name for Tottenham in all competitions.

He was handed his debut by Tim Sherwood, and kicked on under Mauricio Pochettino in 2014/15 before a disappointing, and injury-hit, campaign last year.

Tottenham's decision to move him on given that he signed a five-year-deal 12 months ago is surprising, yet Everton would be ideally placed to take advantage.

The Toffees have plenty of money to spend after investment from Farhad Mohshiri, and Ronald Koeman will want to see players with Premier League experience arrive.

Everton released Leon Osman in the summer but still require a long term replacement for Gareth Barry, 35, while Darron Gibson, Tom Cleverley and James McCarthy could do with the competition.

At Everton, Bentaleb could have the chance to become a regular, and make Tottenham regret their decision to part ways with him, when he is arguably a better option than both Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll.

Ronald Koeman's Southampton side benefited from Victor Wanyama - one of the players who appears to have forced Bentaleb out now he has signed for Tottenham - but the Algerian midfielder could be the ideal player to perform in such a role at Goodison, especially with mixed messages being received over transfer target Axel Witsel.
