Tottenham Hotspur lost 2-1 to Juventus earlier today.
Vincent Janssen’s Tottenham Hotspur debut has drawn mixed reviews from supporters of the North London club.
Tottenham took on Juventus earlier today, during their tour of Australia.
Spurs started with Janssen up-front, but the Dutch striker failed to get particularly involved in the contest.
Janssen was starved of service, and failed to make much of an impact on the match - as Spurs fell to a 2-1 defeat.
All eyes were on the Dutch forward, but while some Spurs fans saw some encouraging signs, others criticised the 22-year-old’s first showing.
Love the way Janssen pulls onto the shoulder of the centre-back to find space, the Alderweireld long-ball is capable of finding that run.— Chris Miller (@WindyCOYS) July 26, 2016
@spurredontv Vincent Janssen looks absolutely rubbish. No pace, no agility, overweight, cumbersome - horrid— Ael de Varterbur (@hiyol92) July 26, 2016
Janssen will need time which is a shame as Harry won't be match fit for start of season imo— Chris (@spurs4life2000) July 26, 2016
I'll give Janssen the benefit of the doubt though that he'll be more impressive after he's shifted about 2 stone— Jason O'Keeffe (@OKeeffe_7) July 26, 2016
Vincent Janssen was a complete mess today. Maybe he needed the company of Lamela.— Daniel. (@Tottenham_twd) July 26, 2016
Also making his Spurs debut in the fixture was Victor Wanyama.
The former Southampton midfielder fared rather better than Janssen, and got an assist for Erik Lamela’s goal.
Wanyama put in an eye catching display in the centre of the field, and Spurs supporters have praised his performance.
Wanyama's been decent too although we have seen a couple of 'hospital passes' from him, one of which nearly saw Mason lose some teeth.— Chris Miller (@WindyCOYS) July 26, 2016
Can't judge Janssen because he wasn't playing with first team players and didn't get any service. Wanyama had a solid game though.— Pritch. (@pritch_16) July 26, 2016
#THFC Good: Wanyama, Miller, Lamela, Winks.— Seb Cummings (@sebcummings) July 26, 2016
Bad: Mason, Ball, Son.
Ugly: Chadli, Carroll.
Wanyama and Lamela standout performances, Edwards, Miller, Winks, Onomah and Carroll good too— Cem (@CemTHFCOzerk) July 26, 2016
Wanyama carries on like that he'll prove me wrong, and good I hope he does— george (@CoysGeorge) July 26, 2016
MOTM Wanyama. Kept it all together. Distributed well— Matt (@OsideHotspur) July 26, 2016
Lamela was the spark we needed. #COYS
Good game for Wanyama... Has been solid this game and surprisingly disciplined— Vita Wanyama (@waweru_jb) July 26, 2016
