Lille's Ibrahim Amadou in action against Paris Saint-Germain
The Baggies have been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, making just one addition to their side as winger Matt Phillips joined the club from Queens Park Rangers.
With just over a month to go until the transfer window closes, manager Tony Pulis will be hoping to get more new faces in through the door, and he appears to have set his sights on a new midfielder.
France Football report that the Baggies are keen to land Lille star Ibrahim Amadou, and have made an opening bid totalling €14m (£11.7m).
Amadou, 23, came up through the ranks with Nancy before joining Lille in 2015, and he scored once in 22 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille last season.
Able to play for France or Cameroon, Amadou is a defensive-minded midfielder with great athletic ability, and could bring some dynamism to the West Brom midfield, if they can get the deal done.
It's claimed that West Brom's first offer is with €12m up front with €2m in add-ons (£10m + £1.7m), putting them in the lead for Amadou's signature - but they aren't the only Premier League team pursuing the central midfielder.
The report states that Middlesbrough are keen on Amadou as well, but West Brom have swooped in with the first offer - and it now remains to be seen Lille accept the bid.
