One of the areas the Dutchman is looking to add in is central midfield, likely in the search for a replacement for veteran Gareth Barry.

They have been frustrated in that hunt so far though, with a big money move for Belgium star Axel Witsel hitting several snags and him looking likely to end up elsewhere.
And it appears the Blues have now turned their attention elsewhere as a result with the Daily Mail reporting they have made a move for Aston Villa midfielder Gueye.
They claim that Koeman’s side have activated the £7.2 million release clause in his contract and are trying to push through a deal.

The Senegal international was previously targeted by Leicester City and it appears that Steve Walsh has retained that interest after making the move to Goodison Park.
It remains to be seen if they can secure a deal, with the report claiming other Premier League sides are interested in his services also.
