Grant Holt comments on Glasgow Rangers' history

Grant Holt scores Norwich's second goal

Grant Holt has trolled Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers by suggesting Mark Warburton's side aren't the club that won 54 titles.

Rangers fans

Grant Holt has incurred the wrath of Rangers fans on Twitter after intimating that the current club and the one which previously dominated Scottish football are completely separate entities.

Rangers are preparing for their return to the Scottish Premiership this season after its financial implosion of 2012 saw the club demoted to the fourth tier.

It is commonly suggested - largely by Celtic supporters - that the Rangers which previously won 54 titles no longer exist in a claim which has been denied by SPL chief Neil Doncaster (Daily Record) and FIFA itself (Daily Record).

Nevertheless, it remains a touchy subject on the blue half of the Old Firm divide, but Holt, now at Scottish Championship side Hibernian with Neil Lennon, hit the Gers fans where it hurt on Twitter this afternoon.

Inevitably, Holt's claim went down terribly among Rangers fans; some of whom hit back by telling him to enjoy Scotland's second tier this season.
