Arsenal fans slam Mikel Arteta on social media

The Arsenal fans aren't happy with their former captain.

Mikel Arteta - Arsenal

Mikel Arteta left Arsenal this summer to take up a coaching role with the Gunners' Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The 34-year-old former midfielder joined up with Pep Guardiola at Eastlands after reportedly snubbing the chance to stay at Arsenal in a coaching capacity (Mirror).

But the Spaniard, who spent five years at the Emirates and spent four of those as club captain, appears to have cut all ties wth the North Londoners after deleting any Arsenal-related photos on his Instagram page, according to The Metro.

The former Barcelona youth then replaced them with pictures of himself representing Manchester City and suffice to say the decision did not go down well with supporters of his old club.

Arsenal fans let Arteta know exactly what they think of him by repeatedly using dozens of snake emojis to illustrate their disdain for him.

The comments themselves can be viewed on his Instagram page.

Arteta, who was visibly upset after his Arsenal swansong in May, joined the club from Everton in 2011, having previously represented Rangers and Real Sociedad.
